INSTRUCTION

This is our final project shoot a one-minute vfx special effects video in pairs.

We need to find the video tutorials first and then create the story. When I was looking for vfx special effects with my team members, we also found a 3-minute small video when we were looking for vfx special effects.

We all liked it very much, so we chose to use this story and special effects as the basis.

This is the video template link.

However, during the first communication with Mr. kannan, he suggested that some of our parts could be improved, and the storyline and special effects were not appropriate enough, so we modified the storyline and finally determined this:
  • A girl is working on her computer when strange glitches begin appearing around her: The items on the table disappeared Her computer screen had a glitch too, and then the cup on the table was suddenly frozen. After that, the girl answered a phone call, which took her to another space and found that she was actually a character in the game.

Shooting:

We decided to shoot at school, because there were three scenes throughout the whole process, one indoor, one outdoors and one at home, so we found an empty classroom and took the first scene in the classroom.

Because there is a video material we want to imitate, everything is not difficult, but because we all want to shoot a shot that switches scenes quickly, this is the most difficult, because we need to ensure that the distance between the two scenes and the actors and the position are as the same as possible, so we have done it carefully many times.

About the second scene we were still at school but it was outdoors.

When we took the scene of the conversion scene, we carefully compared the position of the indoor lens and the distance from the actor, and then tried many times, and finally found the right angle.

Then there is the third shot. The third shot was at home. My partner chose to shoot by himself, so it took us a day to complete all the shooting.

Editing :

After that, it's editing, and I'm responsible for the editing.

I decided to do the general video selection and storyline arrangement in pr first, and then do specific special effects in AE, and then put the finished special effects fragments back on PR for secondary editing and correspondence

Then there are sound effects and music.

I have to say that this is a very troublesome part, because I need to compare the sound effects and music all the time, and even I need to find different music clips and combine them together to make them coherent. I mainly used two platforms, free sound and pixabay,

Fortunately, because we didn't have dialogues and lines throughout the whole process, just sound effects and background music were fine.

I remember that I did this part intermittently for three days, because I often had no inspiration, but it was finished in the end.

Reflection

Overall, this task was a challenging yet rewarding experience for me. Unlike previous individual exercises, this project required us to work through the entire production process as a team, from planning to final output. Through group collaboration, I became more aware of the importance of communication and role distribution in achieving an efficient workflow.

During the process, I was able to apply what I had learned previously, such as camera techniques, composition, and color adjustment, while also gaining hands-on experience in filming, editing, and sound processing. This helped me realize that practical work is essential for fully understanding theoretical knowledge. I also faced some difficulties, such as maintaining smooth transitions and controlling the overall rhythm, but these issues were gradually resolved through revisions and discussion.

Seeing the completed video gave me a strong sense of improvement in both technical skills and overall control of the project. This task allowed me to better understand the full workflow of video production and strengthened my ability to use related software in practice. I believe these skills and experiences will be very useful for my future studies and creative work.
